Truth to Learn<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

The world system today chooses to ignore God\u2019s truth.<\/p>\n

Behind the Words<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/span>\u201cDeliberately<\/span>\u201d is translated from a form of thel\u014d<\/span><\/em>, which means \u201cto wish or to will.\u201d But it implies more than simple desire because it carries an intention with it. Hence, it is often translated as \u201cto determine.\u201d<\/p>\n

The word \u201cforget<\/span>\u201d is translated from the Greek word lanthan\u014d<\/span><\/em>, which is from a primitive root lath<\/span><\/em>, meaning \u201cto escape notice.\u201d The word lanthan\u014d<\/span><\/em> means \u201cto lie hidden\u201d or \u201cto be unaware of.\u201d<\/p>\n

The words \u201clong ago<\/span>\u201d are from ekpalai<\/span><\/em>, meaning \u201cfrom a long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meaning Explained<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Today\u2019s verse is a very difficult one to translate accurately as evidenced by the wide variety of translations that exist. It literally starts out with, \u201cfor determining to be unaware of \u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

The thing that they are intentionally unaware of is explained in the following phrase: \u201cthat long ago by God’s word the heavens existed and the earth was formed out of water and by water<\/span>\u201d This, too, is a difficult phrase to translate, but it appears to mean that the heavens were created a long time ago by the word of God, the earth was once formed by the word of God out of water, and the earth currently exists having come through water.<\/p>\n

The first of these is pretty easy to understand. \u201cLong ago by God’s word the heavens existed;\u201d <\/span>that is, they existed, or came into being, a long time ago, and the instrument which brought the heavens into being was the Word of God. The next phrase, \u201cand the earth was formed out of water and by water,<\/span>\u201d is literally written \u201cand land out of water and through water.<\/span>\u201d This is explained in the second verse of Genesis, \u201cAnd the earth was without form and empty. And darkness was<\/span> on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved on the face of the waters.<\/span>\u201d In this verse from Genesis, the word translated \u201cthe deep<\/span>\u201d can be referring to \u201csurging waves of water.<\/em>\u201d We can clearly see from Genesis 1:2<\/span><\/strong> that the earth was covered with water, and land was formed from the midst of it. And the phrase \u201cthrough water\u201d is a reference to the flood of Noah\u2019s time which transformed the face of the earth.<\/p>\n

What today\u2019s verse is telling us is that these scoffers have made a conscious decision not to believe reality because they don\u2019t want to admit that God exists. They cannot understand the reality of God\u2019s creation because they willingly ignore the truth. <\/span>As a result, they have to make up theories that explain all that exists around us apart from a creator God.<\/p>\n

Application<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Just because all of our public schools teach that all matter spontaneously came into being at the Big Bang doesn\u2019t make it so. Just because they teach that life spontaneously came into being and evolved into all life forms we see today, without God, doesn\u2019t make it so. People don\u2019t have to believe these lies, but they choose to because they reject God. Do you choose to believe the Word of God or humanistic lies?<\/p>\n
